Marshall City Council awards asphalt crushing contract to Rogie Excavating

The Marshall City Council voted to award a contract for crushing salvaged asphalt material at the city street shop to Rogie Excavating of Ghent, at a proposed price of $5.95 per ton.
City Engineer and Public Works Director Jason Anderson told the council the city maintains a large pile of salvaged asphalt from street work that is periodically crushed into a recycled gravel material the city can use or sell. Anderson said the work would be completed by November and that the city budgeted $40,000 for the work; crushing would continue until that amount was reached. "We received one proposal for crushing from Rogie Excavating of Ghent in the amount of $5.95 per ton," Anderson said.
Councilmember Craig moved to approve the award; Councilmember John seconded the motion. The council closed the vote and the motion passed.
The city did not provide a vote tally on the record; the motion carried as announced by the mayor.
