Sequoia High names new principal; superintendent outlines cell-phone rule and fall schedule

Terry Eustace, superintendent of Sequoia High School, introduced Clint Hall as the school’s new principal and told the council the school has the largest freshman class Sequoia has seen.
“This is Clint Hall who come to us from Showdo. He's been at Locust Grove. He's been at Wagner, Healdale, different places,” Eustace said. Eustace clarified Hall is unrelated to Councilor Lisa Hall.
When Councilor Mike Dobbins asked about the school’s cell-phone rule, Eustace said the policy remains “no cell phones during class at all, and then we allow them at lunch.” He said the policy has been in place while he has been superintendent and described benefits for middle-school-aged students.
Eustace also outlined back-to-school logistics: teacher in-service, freshman orientation and an Aug. 14 full-student return; he invited councilors to attend a Wednesday morning freshman event and noted Sequoia opened athletics practice that day with 47 football players arriving early because of heat concerns.
Ending: The superintendent encouraged council members to attend orientation events and said the school is starting the year with expanded enrollment and athletics activity.
