Education division announces scholarships, college fair, archery range openings and fall dates

Mark Vance, presenting the education division’s report, told the council that 7,200 scholarships had already been allocated for the coming year and that the office is planning a Tahlequah college fair this fall. “We have 7,200 scholarships coming back already. So it's gonna be a record year,” Vance said.
Vance listed a series of culture and youth programming announcements: two children’s cultural festivals are planned for the fall, archery-range open houses in Benita and Sallisaw are scheduled with hours from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and youth leadership and audition opportunities are open for 2026 programs. He said the archery ranges have been staffed and are open for an open house and that applications for youth vocal performances and youth leadership are being accepted.
Vance also reviewed school calendar items: early childhood programs return Aug. 11, Sequoia freshman orientation Aug. 13, and all students return Aug. 14. He invited councilors to events he is coordinating and said calendar dates would be shared by staff.
Ending: Vance said staff would distribute event dates and details individually to council members and encouraged participation at upcoming cultural and college recruitment events.
