Avon Grove leaders review district master plan and committee schedule for school year

The Avon Grove School District reviewed an internal district master plan at a board retreat, laying out committee and legislative meeting topics, presentation timing and expected updates across the school year.
District leaders said the master plan is a working document intended to guide board legislative meetings, two standing committees (education and operations) and a committee of the whole. The plan is organized by month and will be revised continuously to match the budget calendar and emerging priorities.
Superintendent Scott said, "So we have 6 agenda items this evening," and described the master plan as an "internal working document that guides our topics for our committee meetings and our legislative meetings." He noted the plan will be updated throughout the year and that some committee names in the current draft were carried over from last year and would be corrected.
Board members discussed specific calendar highlights the plan maps out: an August retreat and legislative meeting; September committee meetings with curriculum-review and pupil-services presentations; an October presentation by the middle school; November homecoming and makerspace updates with a meeting held at the high school during conferences; and a December reorganization meeting. Administrators said they will provide presentation materials such as a compiled back-to-school video produced by the IU for the August legislative meeting.
Board members suggested adding community or nonadministrative presenters—examples suggested included a senior volunteer program and the Education Foundation—to some meetings to broaden public-facing content. A board member also requested that accelerated growth and achievement data be presented to all nine board members when the metrics are available later in the fall.
Administrators said the document will be shared with cabinet members and building leaders, and it will be revised after the district’s reorganization to reflect any committee-structure changes.
Board members and staff agreed the schedule will be a flexible roadmap rather than a fixed mandate, and the superintendent committed to correcting committee-name carryovers and circulating updates as they occur.
