The Lakeville Police Station and Building Committee voted unanimously at its July meeting to award the security system contract to Cygnet using state contract pricing.
Committee members reviewed references and written responses from two vendors, Cygnet and Galaxy, and discussed how each bidder matched the project specifications. "My tie breaker vote would be Cygnet," said Brian, a project architect/engineer, citing prior experience with Cygnet’s installations and adherence to the project specifications. He said Galaxy submitted an alternate material and scope list that prompted additional clarifying questions; both vendors answered a follow‑up questionnaire confirming they were bidding to the drawings and specifications.
Staff told the committee both companies had positive service references. Members noted Cygnet’s alignment with the Genetec software specified in the project and said that, while the price difference was small, familiarity with the specification and confidence in installation and service were factors in recommending Cygnet. The committee approved the award by voice vote and directed staff to move forward with state contract paperwork, insurance documentation and a contract signature.
The award will be executed as a state‑contract purchase; project staff said they will prepare the vendor paperwork and return with the insurance certificate and final contract for signature. The committee did not disclose final contract dollar amounts during the public discussion; staff said the bids were very close.
