Riverdale council adopts first‑responder mental‑health policy, certifies primary election results

Riverdale City Council voted Tuesday to add a state‑driven first‑responder mental‑health counseling provision to the city personnel manual, and to certify results from the Aug. 12 municipal primary election. The council also appointed Leslie Shoop to the Riverdale City Planning Commission and approved minutes from recent meetings.
City Administrator Brooks, introducing the personnel change, said the amendment implements requirements from recent state legislation and provides counseling resources for police and fire personnel. "This is stuff that's part of the job, and it's really our obligation if we want them to go out and do the things they do that we have this resource available to them," Brooks said.
