Erie superintendent lays out priorities, reverts student handbook Title IX rules to 2020 regulations

Dr. Nylund Gibbs, the newly appointed superintendent of the School District of the City of Erie, told the board on Aug. 13 that his administration will prioritize improved communication, stronger core instruction and greater student belonging as the district begins the 2025–26 school year.
"It is with a profound sense of purpose and optimism that I stand before you tonight in my first address as superintendent," Gibbs said, adding the district will launch "a new comprehensive district wide communication strategy to ensure you receive timely and relevant information about school events, student progress, and critical announcements." He said the district serves approximately 10,500 students and that about 90% of those students are economically disadvantaged.
