RTC approves meeting minutes and multiple pavement contracts; long-line striping priced at $251,813

The Carson City Regional Transportation Commission approved its minutes from June 11 and awarded two pavement-related contracts during the meeting.

The commission unanimously approved the minutes from the June 11 meeting without corrections.

Casey Sylvester, transportation and traffic engineer, described the long-line pavement striping contract as an annual program to refresh longitudinal striping across Carson City. The long-line contract was awarded for $251,813; the commission authorized the public works director to approve the contract and to expend up to a 10% contingency if required.

The commission also awarded a short-line paving contract to Nevada Barricade and Sign Company, Inc., for short-line (transverse/stop bar) pavement marking; the meeting packet shows the project limits but no special conditions were noted in the discussion. The commission approved that contract and likewise authorized the public works director to use a 10% contingency if necessary.

Both awards were routine and passed unanimously. No public comment was recorded on these items.

In nonaction items, Transportation Manager Chris Martinovich reported recent Safe Routes to School outreach at a national Night Out event, the installation of new information kiosks at the Jack Transfer Center, new cigarette receptacles at the transfer center and an upcoming Jack transit 20-year anniversary celebration noted by staff. The street operations report covered May and June activities — including 2,011 potholes repaired and about 14,000 square feet of sidewalk and flatwork completed during fiscal year 2025 — and progress addressing traffic-signal work orders, including in Douglas County.
