Board approves agenda items, minutes, consent agenda and four policy second readings

At its meeting, the Aberdeen School Board approved routine procedural items and four policy second readings by voice vote, with members indicating approval by saying "aye." The board approved the meeting agenda, the minutes of July 14 and July 28, and the consent agenda before moving to policy items.

Policy EEAG (second reading) was approved. The policy update allows students to use private vehicles for educational uses such as dual-enrollment activities, internships and some career and technical education activities; the board approved the second reading after a motion and second. Policy EEAG-E, a form the district previously required for student vehicle use, was deleted as a separate paper form because the district will use an online system to collect the same information; the board approved the deletion on second reading.

The board also approved second reading of Policy JGB, the districtrestraint and seclusion policy, which added definitions for "behavior intervention plan" and "functional behavior assessment." Finally, second reading of Policy JLDAA (confidentiality and Family Educational Rights/records procedure) was approved; the revision clarifies the process for parents requesting additional information, requiring a written request to the building principal.

All policy votes were taken by voice; the meeting transcript records "Aye" for approval and does not show recorded roll-call tallies. The board did not attach new budgetary actions to the policy approvals. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
