District community engagement staff presented a plan Aug. 6 to relaunch trustee community engagement meetings this fall and through the 2025–26 school year, with the Board Office scheduling locations and communications support.
"Each trustee will hold two meetings during the 2025–26 school year," Chief Community Engagement Officer Kirsten Cyr said, describing a proposed template of one in‑person meeting and one virtual meeting per trustee, while noting that format choices remain for trustees to decide. Assistant Superintendent Brad Keating described a draft schedule organized by trustee district and region, and staff said in‑person locations were selected to balance access across regions.
Trustees discussed format preferences and logistics. Several trustees favored in‑person meetings to maximize direct contact; others urged hybrid or at least one virtual offering so working parents can participate. Staff said hybrid/televised options are possible and that the engagement unit could absorb the initial staff lift within existing resources; they recommended two weeks of promotion lead time and asked trustees to designate the month they would own on the draft schedule so staff can finalize logistics.
Trustees also discussed partnerships and outreach channels. Trustee Baron urged the district to list community partner resources and events on CCSD pages and to develop vetting for partners. Trustee Verone suggested reaching Latino and other multilingual community influencers and media; staff said they would pursue partnerships and coordinate targeted messaging (ParentLink, school networks, social media) and work with principals and student groups to publicize meetings.
Staff proposed a follow‑up check‑in in December after several meetings to recalibrate logistics, outreach and formats based on early results.
Ending: Trustees agreed in principle to the relaunch and asked staff to proceed with scheduling and outreach; staff will return with confirmed dates and logistics and a December check‑in to assess participation and make adjustments.
