Noreen, Valley County assessor, asked the Board of County Commissioners to approve a cancellation of market value for parcel R0N031500A00020, a Crystal Beach condominium owned by Mr. Garton, saying an incorrect effective year was applied during an earlier assessment and that the error was identified during an interior verification inspection. "With the interior inspection verification that I conducted, it was 100% my fault," Noreen said, and she requested the cancellation of $81,100.
A commissioner moved to approve the cancellation for parcel R0N031500A00020 for $81,100 and another commissioner seconded. Commissioner Thompson asked for clarification about the timeline for raising value cancellations and whether issues needed to be brought during the Board of Equalization process; the assessor said she could not answer definitively but explained the owner had pursued the BOE and the county later identified the county's error when an inspector was able to visit the unit.
The board voted "Aye" and the chair announced, "Motion passes." The cancellation was approved during the meeting.
