Board approves 2025 tax rate request, enters closed session for superintendent evaluation

The motion to approve the tax rate request was made by Mr. Bailey and seconded by Mrs. Martin; the roll call vote was recorded as: Mr. Bailey, yes; Mrs. Dean, yes; Mrs. Martin, yes; Ms. Miller, yes; Ms. Dorsowski, yes; Chair, yes. The motion carried 6-0.
Later in the meeting the board voted to go into closed session for the superintendent's evaluation as permitted under Section 8(1)(a) of the Michigan Open Meetings Act. The motion to enter closed session was moved by Ms. Miller and seconded by Mr. Osowski. A roll call vote was taken and recorded as: Mr. Bailey, yes; Mrs. Dean, yes; Mrs. Martin, yes; Ms. Miller, yes; Mr. Osowski, yes; Chair, yes. The motion passed and the board stated it was in closed session as of 7:56 p.m.
The board also adopted the meeting agenda at the start of the session after a motion by Mr. Osowski and a second from Ms. Miller; that procedural motion passed by voice vote.

The tax rate request was presented to the board at the recommendation of Maria Gistinger, interim chief financial officer; the district did not record any amendment or dissent during the roll-call vote on the tax rate request.
