Jason Witt, superintendent of Redford Union Schools District No. 1, told the board on June 16 that the district has issued its Series 1 bonds and is scheduled to receive bond proceeds by wire transfer later in June.
Witt said the district held interviews on June 10 for architect and engineering firms to support the district's 2025 bond program. He said the three firms interviewed were French Associates, King Scott Associates and Fanning Howie Associates. Witt said Plant Moran is conducting follow-up reference checks and final discussions with those firms to confirm fee proposals, insurance requirements and other financial details.
Witt told the board the district will provide another update at the next board meeting and will circulate additional information in advance of that meeting. He described the current step as an initial stage in selecting design and engineering partners for the bond projects.
Board discussion at the June 16 meeting did not include a selection or approval of a firm; Witt framed the remarks as a status update on the procurement process and on receipt of bond proceeds. The board did not take a final vote on any architect or contract at the June 16 meeting.
The update followed earlier action on the meeting agenda and preceded other routine business. The superintendent's statements identify next steps as Plant Moran's completion of reference checks and the district's anticipated report back to the board at a subsequent meeting.
For now, district officials said only that Series 1 bond proceeds are expected by wire transfer later in June and that additional information on firm selection and contract terms will be provided at an upcoming board meeting; specific contract amounts and firm selections were not specified at the June 16 meeting.
