Planning board approves pursuing Serped grant to complete OSRD update for fall town meeting

The planning board voted July 24 to authorize SERPED to apply for grant funding to review and help finalize the town's Open Space Residential Development (OSRD) provisions. Planning staff explained SERPED could perform the work without using the town's allotted in-house consultant hours and that a grant application deadline was imminent.
Staff said the grant application deadline was August 1, with applicants notified in late August; if funded, the timeline would allow a draft OSRD bylaw to be ready for fall town meeting. "There may be possibility" to have SERPED use grant hours rather than the town's retained hours, planning staff said, and the board agreed to proceed with an application.
A motion to pursue the grant with SERPED as the applicant carried unanimously. Planning staff will follow up with SERPED and notify board members when a draft is available for review.
