The Occupational Therapy Advisory Committee on July 25 announced five applicants for four advisory positions and said the committee will convene a special executive-session meeting in August to review applications and provide recommendations to the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
Ingrid Frank listed five applicants by name and location: Sue Savannah Alford (Lake Charles, outpatient orthopedics), John Drew Silbernagle (New Orleans/Baton Rouge, Louisiana Department of Health — Developmental Disabilities), Colin Hernandez (Baton Rouge, Department of Health — Developmental Disabilities), Amber Lupo (Slidell, pediatrics and outpatient adult), and April Peyton (St. Mary Parish, pediatrics). Two applicants (April Peyton and John Drew Silbernagle) joined the meeting and made brief public comments about their interest in serving on OTAC.
Why it matters: OTAC membership shapes advisory review of licensing, continuing competence and scope questions. The committee will vet applicants in executive session before forwarding recommendations to the board.
Meeting actions and next steps - The committee said it will convene an August meeting (executive session only) to review the applicants and then contact applicants with meeting details. - The committee also noted the next regular OTAC meeting is scheduled for Sept. 12 at 10:25 a.m. - During the public session the committee made two formal motions: approval of the May 9 minutes (moved by Amy Larivier, seconded by Kelly Brandon; approved by voice vote) and a motion to enter executive session at 11:40 a.m. (moved by Caroline/Carolyn Murphy, seconded by Amy Larivier; approved by voice vote).
Ending: Applicants who attended were thanked; staff will coordinate schedules for the August executive session to finalize recommendations on membership.
