Public works committee previews council appointments to planning commission and energy authority

The Tulsa Public Works Committee on an afternoon meeting heard from two nominees who will be considered by the full council later this month.

Louisa Krug, a nominee for the Tulsa Metropolitan Area Planning Commission, described her background in planning and public health and said she “currently work[s] at East Side Rise. We're a community development corporation in East Tulsa focused on creating prosperous neighborhoods, holistic community development, economic development.” Krug told the committee she previously worked for the planning office and served as a planning commissioner, and she said she has lived in Tulsa for 13 years.

The committee also heard from Councilor Anthony Archie, Mayor G. T. Nichols’s nominee to the Tulsa Authority for the Recovery of Energy to replace Priscilla Harris; Archie said the term for that seat expires July 31, 2028. Archie said he aims to “bring a perspective from the council to the board and then bring, what the board is thinking to the council,” and that he is “in a learning space, taking in the contracts and ... learning about the processes.” He noted District 2 includes several industrial partners tied to the authority’s work, including Covanta and other recovery operations.

Committee members thanked the nominees and noted formal votes will occur at the council meeting scheduled “on the thirtieth.” No final appointment votes were taken in this committee meeting.

The committee chair also announced that an unrelated agenda item (item 4) had been pulled from the agenda.
