The Coffey County Board of Commissioners on July 21 authorized the chairman to sign a local road maintenance agreement with the City of Lamo covering maintenance of two road segments near a county lake.
According to the motion passed by the board, the agreement covers maintenance of roadway located at “20 Seventh and Dobbin Terrace North” (approximately 2,240 feet) and “20 Seventh and Dobbin Lane North” (approximately 2,665 feet). The motion stated the county attorney had approved the agreement as to form and that the road and bridge superintendent recommended moving forward.
Road and bridge staff told commissioners the county had generally maintained the two roads at the city’s request for several years and that the city would continue to mow; the city will reimburse the county for any material costs for gravel and crossroad repairs. Commissioners discussed snow-removal priorities and said the lake-area roads would be maintained as part of the county’s normal route schedules rather than receive any special-priority service.
Outcome The board voted unanimously to authorize the chairman to sign the local road maintenance agreement and make it effective immediately. Commissioners asked staff to confirm and record the agreement’s effective date with the city.
