Council approves Stonehaven Lot 2 final plat and rezoning to single-family R-1B

The Washington City Council on July 21 approved the final plat for Stonehaven Lot 2 and rezoned the new lot from R-3 multifamily to R-1B single-family residential after a public hearing and review by planning staff.
City staff explained the two-part process: the lot split (final plat) and then rezoning of the newly created Lot 2. The lot currently contains a duplex on the portion remaining R-3. Staff said the new Lot 2 would be surrounded by R-1B zoning and the applicant plans to build a single-family home on the new lot. During discussion, staff and council addressed stormwater and runoff: staff said the applicant would handle stormwater for the new lot when submitting building permits and noted that Lot 1 (where the duplex remains) had detention installed previously though it was not originally required.
Council members moved, seconded and voted in favor of admitting the plat into the minutes, adopting the final plat ordinance and adopting the rezoning ordinance on second reading that evening. No public opposition was recorded in the transcript.
The council’s actions allow the applicant to proceed with building-permit submittals for the new single-family lot subject to standard stormwater and permit review.
