The Fishers City Council on July 21 approved on second reading an ordinance establishing residential parking permits for selected streets near Sunblest Farms, Sunblest Boulevard and Heritage Meadows to address recurring overflow from nearby businesses and organizations.
Supporters of the ordinance said it will give residents recourse to limit chronic parking problems and related safety issues. Opponents said the permit system places an unfair burden on residents and could be confusing or inconsistently enforced.
The measure grew out of ongoing complaints about patrons from nearby businesses — including King Judd’s and the mosque near Sunblest — parking in residential streets, creating blocked driveways, litter and safety concerns.
