Beth Leeman, secretary and treasurer of the foundation, explained the organization was created to honor the memory of David Daniel by supporting youth activities related to agriculture and fishing, including scholarships and local projects. She asked the board to waive the majority of the AgCenter invoice; the foundation said it would cover stall and shavings charges of about $9.23 and requested a waiver for roughly $4,200 of the remaining $5,153 final invoice.
"Every dollar that we raise we put back into Okeechobee County to the youth," said Pete Marovich, chairman of the foundation's board.
Commissioner Sumner moved to waive the requested $4,200; Commissioner Burrows seconded the motion. The board approved the waiver unanimously.
