Mount Vernon maintenance team outlines summer projects: new roofs, LED lighting, ADA work and gym upgrades

District maintenance staff described a summer of in-house repairs and upgrades across Mount Vernon City Schools, including new parking-lot and exterior LEDs, gym floor and audio/video upgrades, ADA improvements at the high school theater and multiple roof and playground repairs.
Rick, a member of Mount Vernon City Schools maintenance staff, told the school board the district’s maintenance team completed dozens of projects over the summer to prepare buildings for the school year.
Those projects included new handrails and repaired steps at Dan Emmett, a new roof on an outbuilding at East, expanded parking-lot and exterior LED lighting at the high school, middle school and Twin Oak, a new high-school gym floor with updated speakers and video displays, and resurfaced playgrounds and parking areas at several elementary schools.
