Tulsa City Councilors on Monday reviewed the downtown curfew as the ordinance’s sunset approaches on Oct. 22 and discussed sending a modified version to first reading that would extend the policy through Oct. 22, 2026, narrow enforcement to Friday and Saturday nights and add quarterly reporting requirements.
The curfew — enacted this summer in response to crowd-control and public-safety concerns in the entertainment district — has generated fewer than a dozen formal curfew citations since implementation, city officials said, though pedestrian and other contacts with officers have been far higher.
Councilor Linda Gilbert brought the item back for discussion as the sunset approached, saying the council should decide whether to discontinue, modify or continue the measure. “I thought it was important to bring those that are more involved in this process … to come and talk about it,” she said.
