Spring ISD lays out instructional reset after STAR results; aims for no D or F campuses

Spring Independent School District academic leaders briefed the board on STAR (state) assessment outcomes and outlined a multi‑pronged “instructional reset” aimed at accelerating student learning, particularly for historically underperforming student groups.

Why it matters: administrators said the district’s achievement gains have plateaued in recent years and that the district must produce “exponential” growth to close gaps with regional and statewide performance. Leadership described immediate actions intended to eliminate D and F campuses by the end of the current school year.

What the board heard Interim Chief of Academics and School Leadership Dr. Latracy Harris presented the district’s baseline targets and results. For third grade reading staff cited a baseline of 31 percent meets/above in June 2025 with a district target of 58 percent by June 2029; a similar target trajectory was described for math (third grade meets/above from roughly 31.5 percent to 58.7 percent by 2029). Harris and accountability staff framed the targets as part of a normalized‑growth approach and noted the district will use the 2024–25 school year as a baseline.
