Council members suggested the city consider restoring an overnight-economy committee or a dedicated table to address late-night and nightlife safety, permitting and business supports so disparate enforcement is surfaced and addressed with consistent standards.
The bar’s owner said the closure and license-suspension timeline was compressed — he described a rapid sequence of events from incident to hearing to closure occurring over about 30 days — and asked for a fair, transparent appeal and meeting with city leadership. Several council members said they would meet with the owner and suggested convening staff from the police department, licensing and legal offices to seek consistent, equitable approaches for nightlife businesses across neighborhoods.
No formal referral or vote was made; council members indicated they will follow up with the mayor’s office and city administration to arrange meetings and review enforcement practices.
