At its meeting the Tunkhannock Area School District board approved a slate of routine and programmatic items, including personnel actions, vendor contracts, student-support agreements and purchases.
Key approvals included all three parts of a large personnel report (professional resignations and appointments, tenure and extra-pay assignments, and the appointment of roughly 120 volunteers); conference attendance; school bus and van drivers for the 2025–26 school year; and student-support contracts with several outside providers.
The board approved agreements for nursing services with Blue Cloud Staffing (an authorized partner of USA Staff Services), a partial-hospitalization agreement with Children’s Service Center, and grouped agreements with New Story Schools, Youth Advocate Programs and Graham Academy for out-of-district and therapeutic placements. The board also approved STEM and high school ATSI plans and the purchase of AP Calculus textbooks at $3,055.19.
The board approved application for payment number 25016001 to D & M Construction Unlimited Inc. in the amount of $167,000 for installation and reconstruction of ADA-compliant ramps; the superintendent said the work is funded through Medicaid reimbursement and does not come from the general fund.
The board approved a contract with Sikola Signs LLC to fabricate and install building signs for the high school, intermediate center and primary center at a cost of $25,045, funded from budgeted funds through a CoStars contract. The board accepted the donation of three pallets of paper from President Press in Quincy, Massachusetts (valued in discussion at about $5,000) and approved disposal of a nonworking Yamaha Clavinova piano and three record players.
Other actions included approving an FFA out-of-state field trip to the national FFA convention in Indianapolis and routine handbook updates; the board also approved a resolution naming Paul Doherty and Mary Jean Egan as authorized representatives for grant applications and appointed a new bank signer effective July 1, 2025.
Most motions passed unanimously by roll call. One item (part 3 of the personnel report, which included approximately 120 volunteers) recorded two abstentions; the remainder carried with affirmative votes.
