Council approves $2,000 for Jam Jam bicycle tour after applicant lowers request

The Pryor City Council approved a $2,000 grant to support the Jam Jam bicycle tour, a fundraiser run by Pryor Hope (application originally requested $10,000; applicant later reduced the requested amount and submitted a narrower advertising plan).

Crystal Stah, standing in for executive director Leslie Considine, said the event — scheduled for Sept. 6, 2025 — seeks to attract riders from Oklahoma City, Tulsa and surrounding areas. She said registration was on pace with prior years and that last year’s ride drew about 311 participants. "We are at same on on pace for the same amount," Crystal Stah said when asked about current registrations, and she said the organization had 140 preregistrations at the time of the meeting.

Council members debated the efficacy of radio advertising versus more targeted digital outreach and asked that post-event documentation show how many attendees stayed overnight in Pryor hotels. Council approved the $2,000 award with the council’s expectation that funds be used for targeted marketing to attract out-of-area riders and that the organization submit receipts and a post-event report showing hotel stays and advertising results.
