PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Public Schools Board of Education voted to postpone consideration of Resolution 7148, a proposal to move a small group of homes from Portland Public Schools into the Beaverton School District, at its Aug. 5, 2025, public meeting.
Board members said they could not make an informed decision because staff materials contained conflicting information about how many homes were developed, the likely tax and bond revenue impact and how many students would be affected.
The item was pulled from the July 22 consent agenda for follow-up. Director DePass moved to adopt Resolution 7148; Director Chase Miller seconded that motion, but a subsequent motion to postpone the item passed instead. Director LaForte asked that staff verify assessment and levy details before the board acts. “I think that we need to table this till the next meeting because the information is not correct,” Director LaForte said during discussion.
