District says majority of federal grants cleared after programmatic review; adult education funds remain pending

District staff told the Santa Rosa County School Board on July 29 that the Florida Department of Education has released most federal grant funds after programmatic reviews for the 2025–26 academic year but that funding for adult education grants remains partially unresolved.

“On Friday, July 25, the Florida Commissioner of Education announced the release of Title II-A and Title IV-A,” a district staff member, Sherry, said. She said the district has received notification that nearly all federal grants it participates in have been approved for release, with the exception of some adult education funds for which the department had provided only partial funding to date.

Sherry reported that the district has received a little more than $1.3 million in released federal funds so far and expects an additional $288,776 (transcript: “288 776,000” was read; staff clarified this was $288,776) once programmatic reviews for adult education grants are complete.

The staff member said the district has a contingency plan in place so programs funded under these grants will continue operating while the remaining adult education funds are pending.
