The San Antonio Zoning Commission approved multiple zoning and conditional-use requests during its meeting and continued several contested items to future dates.
A combined consent agenda of rezonings (items 3, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17 and 18) was moved and approved by roll call after staff confirmed notices and neighborhood responses. Commissioners recorded affirmative votes in roll call for the consent agenda.
Individual items addressed during the meeting included:
- Item 2 (rezoning request on Jobs and Broadway): Staff recommended denial for a specific use (outdoor storage) but the commission approved an amended request to proceed as C-3 with conditions; the motion passed by roll call.
- Item 4 (127–123 Burnet Street): The commission approved a rezoning from MF‑33 to IDZ‑1 to allow lower‑intensity commercial uses, including medical offices and a community‑oriented café and outreach space proposed by the applicants; the motion passed by roll call after commissioners and staff discussed site plans and neighborhood outreach.
- Item 5: The applicant requested a 4‑week postponement to Sept. 2; the commission approved the continuance by recorded vote.
- Item 10: A commercial rezoning request for Pulverdy Road (from R‑6 to C‑3 recommended to C‑2‑CD by staff) was approved following public comments and assurances on drainage and stormwater control.
The commission also approved minutes from the previous meeting by acclamation and heard a director’s report and recognition for Commissioner Watson (this was her last meeting).
Votes recorded by roll call for the principal motions listed above show unanimous or near‑unanimous approval among commissioners present. Where staff recommended conditional commercial zones (C‑2‑CD) to reduce impacts near residences, the commission generally accepted staff guidance or approved applicants’ amended proposals following conditions and site‑plan review.
Ending — Several items were continued at the applicant’s request so staff and neighbors can work on site‑plan details and notice; approved rezonings will advance to City Council as required by city procedure.
