Marquette planning commission backs comprehensive land development code amendments after public hearing; parking maximums and permit timelines debated

The Marquette City Planning Commission on May 20 voted to recommend that the City Commission approve a comprehensive package of amendments to the City of Marquette Land Development Code following a public hearing and staff presentation.

Commission staff said the package is the product of roughly six months of work, including nine planning committee meetings and multiple joint sessions with the City Commission. "This is a combination of nearly 6 months of work," staff member Dave said, adding the amendments touch most of the code's articles: "There’s 15 articles in the land development code, and we are addressing 13 of the 15." The commission's motion recommended approval to the City Commission and found the draft amendments consistent with the community master plan and Section 54.1405 of the Land Development Code.
