Clermont County declares August 2025 Child Support Awareness Month; agency highlights $30 million collections

The Clermont County Board of Commissioners declared August 2025 Child Support Awareness Month at its Aug. 30 meeting and signed a proclamation recognizing the county Department of Job and Family Services Division of Child Support.

Teresa Ellison, deputy director of the Clermont County Child Support Agency, accepted the proclamation and described the agency's services and recent performance awards. She said the agency helps parents establish paternity, obtain child‑support and medical‑support orders, modify orders when appropriate and collect and enforce obligations.

"Clermont County CSEA is able to provide the following services to county residents. We help parents to establish paternity ... to establish both child support and medical support orders, to modify those orders when appropriate, and to collect and enforce the child support obligations," Ellison said.

Ellison said the agency received two state awards in federal fiscal year 2023 for best arrears performance and best overall performance among large counties. She told commissioners the agency serves roughly 33,000 individuals, including more than 13,000 children, and annually collects about $30,000,000 in child support funds.

Ellison used the proclamation event to thank partner agencies the agency works with, including Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, Common Pleas Court, the Prosecutor's Office, the Probation Department and the Sheriff's Office.

The agency plans outreach events and staff recognition during August, Ellison said, and will post information on the county website and social media.

The proclamation was signed by all three commissioners present at the meeting.
