The Willows Planning Commission on Aug. 5 approved a design review and conditional use permit for the Sparks by Hilton Hotel expansion at 457 North Humboldt Avenue.
Amy Rossig, contract planner with Harrison Associates, told commissioners the project would add a three‑story western addition to an existing Super 8 by Wyndham motel, increasing the property from 37 rooms to 73. Rossig said, “the applicant is proposing an addition to the western side of the existing hotel. It would contain 36 hotel rooms …” and that the proposal calls for 75 parking spaces to meet the city’s requirement of one space per room plus two manager spaces.
