Commissioners said work on the dome is complete, painting and window work were near completion and scaffolding removal would begin soon. One commissioner emphasized the payment is an obligation under an insurance-settlement contract negotiated earlier and that the board must honor that agreement despite having not originally approved the contract.
The motion to approve the $1,000,000 payment to Precision Construction passed on voice vote.
