Arlene from Sierra Vista Animal Care & Control said the shelter will hold a public playgroup event called "Love Unleashed" at Tompkins Park on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Volunteers will run small playgroups so visitors can observe how shelter dogs behave outside their kennels. Arlene said dogs featured in the playgroups will be sponsored by a local trainer and brought back to the shelter at noon for meet-and-greets and possible adoption or sponsor opportunities.
Sierra Vista Police Department representative Scott Borstat told the show that the department and the Citizens Police Academy Associates will offer free vehicle identification number etching at the mall's east side Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Borstat said attendees should bring vehicle registration and insurance documents; the process takes roughly 10–15 minutes and donations are accepted but the service is free.
The two events were promoted on-air as community opportunities to support animal-adoption efforts and deter vehicle theft through VIN etching.
