City staff provided updates on two Nebraska Department of Transportation projects during the Aug. 18 meeting.
On the 20 Third Street reconstruction project staff said crews are finishing driveways, sidewalks and electrical work and expect lanes to be reopened around early September, subject to final landscaping and remaining work. Staff noted recent rain had caused slight delays but said the project is generally on track.
On the Loop River South Bridges project, staff said cleanup from a recent blast is complete, contractors are building temporary construction bridges, and another controlled blast is scheduled. Staff said a new underpass will open soon for pedestrian and trail access but will not be available to vehicles until 2027.
Council took no formal action on either update; staff presented information and accepted questions.
