Director Williams, presenting to the Fulton County Board of Elections during a called meeting, said: "For the senate district 21 election, for advanced voting, there were approximately 4,928 voters, Absentee by mail, 63. As of 6PM today, for election day, there was approximately 2,262." Williams said the office "had little to no issues. The only issue that we had to address was a fire alarm that disrupted voting at Precinct ML04." He added that the legal team secured an order to allow additional voting time and that "Precinct ML04, at Cogburn Woods Elementary School will remain open till 07:26."
The board discussed outstanding mail ballots. A board member reading figures from the packet noted the report showed 63 accepted absentee ballots and 93 mailed out, which would leave roughly 30 outstanding ballots. Williams told the board those ballots could be returned until 7 p.m. and that packet details were also posted on the department website. The board also noted one miscellaneous absentee envelope that lacked an oath form.
No substantive policy votes were taken at the special meeting beyond routine procedural actions. The board approved the meeting agenda by voice vote at the start of the session and later voted to adjourn; the chair cast an aye and the vote was announced as unanimous. The board has a regular meeting scheduled for Friday at 11:00 a.m. and a pre-certification meeting later that day ahead of final vote certification.
