Brian Berry, who said he previously served on Heath City Council and as mayor, offered himself for the chair role. After a voice vote the chair position passed without objection. Justin Saunders was later nominated and approved as vice chair, also by voice vote.
City staff and board members used the introductions to outline the board’s anticipated role. Berry, newly installed as chair, said the group can provide a business-focused review of the budget and “help us point us, or attempt to appoint us in a direction” for council consideration. Members emphasized the board’s advisory role to the City Council and staff.
No other motions or formal decisions were taken during that portion of the meeting. The appointments were recorded as unanimous by voice vote.
