The board directed the administration to communicate the enforcement position to staff and incorporate any final language into the district's code of conduct work underway.
Board members and administration said the resolution is intended to reduce classroom distractions and preserve instructional time; violations will continue to be processed under the student code of conduct and existing disciplinary procedures. The board and superintendent noted pending state legislation on cell-phone policies and said the district will monitor any required changes.
