Board votes 5-0 to recommend expulsion of two students

The L'Anse Creuse Public Schools Board of Education on July 21 voted to recommend the expulsion of two students identified in board materials as 0420 and 0421.

At the meeting the board chair entertained motions to recommend expulsion for student 0420 and student 0421. Both motions were moved and seconded. Roll-call votes were taken; both recommendations passed on 5–0 votes. The board recorded each recommendation as "passed" in the minutes and referred the matter according to the district’s student discipline procedures.

The board did not discuss the facts of the individual cases on the public record during the motions; the meeting materials and procedure language noted that hearings and complaints could be processed under the Open Meetings Act and district policies, and that further discussion involving private student information can be handled in closed session when required.

Ending: Both expulsion recommendations were approved by the board and will proceed through the district’s established discipline processes.
