Committee supports IGA to keep Morehead Recreation Center a county voting site

Winter Steger, the city's recreation manager, said the center has been used as a voting location since the facility was remodeled but that recent administrative changes require a formal IGA instead of the city's prior standard agreement. "This is simply asking to allow an IGA to continue Morehead," Steger said, describing the paperwork change.
Committee members expressed support. Councilmember Coombs said maintaining voting access across the city was important and voiced support. Councilmember Murillo echoed that support. Council members indicated approval "to move it forward" and no objections were recorded in the transcript.
Staff said the IGA will be forwarded through normal channels and that the agreement is intended to preserve Morehead as a convenient voting site for local residents. No specific timetable or fiscal impact was recorded in the committee discussion.
