According to the remarks at the Sept. 9 meeting, Wang’s Gold Award project, the ECHO Crafts Campaign: A Sustainable Future, aimed to educate the community about food waste and promote sustainable habits. Wang organized interactive workshops for children at Hawks Bluff Elementary School and Camp Live Oak, where participants created reusable grocery bags and fabric food-storage covers. She also launched a website and social media page with information on waste reduction, sustainable practices and DIY tutorials, and taught practical steps such as meal planning and composting to minimize food waste.
Commissioner Katzmann was identified as a sponsor of the recognition. The commission encouraged Wang to share her work with the Green Advisory Board and posed for photographs after the presentation.
