Greeley-Evans School District 6 board approves agenda and consent items, honors Northridge FCCLA students

GREELEY, Colo. — The Greeley-Evans School District 6 Board of Education unanimously approved the meeting agenda and the consent agenda during its Aug. 25 meeting and honored three Northridge High School students who won a national gold medal in a Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competition.

A board member moved to approve the agenda as presented; the motion was seconded and carried 6-0. Later, a motion to approve the consent agenda and authorize officers to sign contracts also passed 6-0.

The board recognized Northridge students Maddie Adams, Avery Crawford and Stacy Kader and their sponsor Joanna Fedor for winning a national gold medal in the FCCLA food innovations event at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Orlando. “We competed in food innovations where we created a low sugar drink called Boba Bliss mango tango,” said Stacy Kader, speaking for the student team.

Board members and the superintendent used the business meeting to report back on the start of the school year, enrollment and community events. Superintendent Dr. Perla Pilch said kindergarten enrollment exceeded expectations and that the district is “over 22,300 students” — a figure she said likely excludes preschool students. Board directors also shared observations from recent events and regional meetings, including praise for district nutrition services and for teacher and staff efforts that supported an on-time, smooth start to the school year.

There were no public speakers during the meeting. The board adjourned after completing the evening’s business.
