HPC continues 198 Broadway roof application to Oct. 9 after applicant request

The Bangor City Historic Preservation Commission on Aug. 14 voted to continue action on an application for 198 Broadway (Map Lot 047-012) to the commission's Oct. 9, 2025 meeting at the request of the applicant and his representative.
The item, carried over from a prior meeting, concerns a proposed replacement of a slate roof with an asphalt roofing product. The applicant's representative requested the continuance; the representative said he had additional information to present and would be away for the September meeting.
During the roll call on the motion to continue, Commissioner Nathaniel King voted yes, Commissioner Anne Marie Quinn abstained and said she had questions about whether a court order would be required to restart proceedings de novo, Commissioner Liam Reardon voted yes, and Chair Edmond Suresky also voted yes. The motion carried and the item was scheduled for the Oct. 9, 2025 meeting. The commission directed the applicant and staff to address any legal questions and to be prepared to present the additional information at the scheduled date.
The commission also approved minutes for its July 10 and July 31, 2025 meetings before adjourning.
