Muncie council approves three zoning measures to ease housing development

The Muncie Common Council on Aug. 4 adopted a package of zoning actions intended to increase buildable lots and encourage development in the city.
The council approved Ordinance 22-25, rezoning property in the 2700 block of North Benton Road from R-1 to R-5 to allow a multifamily structure; Ordinance 23-25, rezoning parcels on West Ethel Avenue and adjacent areas from residential to a business variety (BV) zone for commercial consolidation; and Ordinance 24-25, a text amendment that changes development standards in R-1, R-2 and R-3 residence zones and allows accessory dwelling units in R-4.
