School board reviews draft five-year capital plan and site studies for proposed North End high school

The Rutherford County School District board met in a work session to discuss a draft five-year capital plan that lists a proposed North End high school, candidate sites, and the district’s near-term renovation priorities. Board members and staff reviewed cost estimates, a schedule for design and bidding, and engineering, environmental and geotechnical studies completed for a 161.07-acre parcel on Lee Road that staff has recommended for further consideration.

The district’s draft shows a five-year construction figure of $398,000,000 and describes a high‑school model that would open initially for about 1,500 students with core facilities sized to accommodate up to 2,500. Staff presented a package of property reports for the Lee Road parcel including a land survey, geotechnical borings, a Phase I environmental assessment, a jurisdictional-wetlands determination and a preliminary traffic assessment.
