Boise proclaims Sept. 9 as Corporal Ed Moreno Day ahead of retirement

The Boise City Council on Sept. 9 read a proclamation recognizing Corporal Ed Moreno's service and declaring Sept. 9, 2025, "Corporal Ed Moreno Day" in the city of Boise, ahead of his retirement on Sept. 17.
Mayor Lauren McLean read the proclamation, saying in part: "I, Lauren McLean, do hereby proclaim 09/09/2025 as corporal Ed Moreno Day in the city of Boise, and thanks for all of your service." The proclamation recounts Moreno's career, noting he joined the Boise Police Department in September 2002 after work with Canyon County juvenile probation and District 4 probation and that he served as a crime scene investigator, patrol officer, Hispanic community liaison and neighborhood contact officer.
Corporal Moreno, addressing council, said, "Been a true honor serving you and the citizens of Boise," and spoke about his family background and his work as a liaison to the Latino community.
Several council members and the mayor offered tribute comments, thanking Moreno for his community outreach, his presence at council meetings and downtown events, and his relationship-building work with the Downtown Boise Association. Council President Nash and others described Moreno as a calming presence and noted he will be missed at council chambers and in downtown Boise.
No council action was required; the proclamation is a ceremonial recognition. City staff and council members encouraged Moreno to enjoy his retirement beginning Sept. 17, 2025.
