The Little Falls school board approved Aug. 11 the purchase and installation of new playground equipment for Lindbergh after an inspection found most existing pieces failed safety criteria.
District staff reported the current playground equipment dates to 1993 and that only one piece passed inspection. Mark (district staff) described the new plan’s accessible features, including poured‑in‑place rubber surfacing for accessibility and equipment configured to allow students who use mobility aids to participate. The board heard that PTA will contribute to the purchase and that demolition would begin the Monday following the meeting with completion expected by September.
Board members discussed salvage options for existing equipment but district staff cautioned that many pieces are set in concrete footings and would require heavy equipment to remove and likely be damaged during demolition.
A motion to approve the playground replacement passed by voice vote.
