The Allentown City Public Safety Committee on Oct. 25 approved Bill 62, a request to amend the 2025 fire department budget to accept $200,375 from Lehigh County through LESTA (the county emergency services training organization) for upgrades and repairs to the fire academy training tower at Max South Training Grounds.
A fire department representative told the committee the funds come through LESTA and will pay for upgrades at the training tower. The representative said the department received the county funds to improve training at the Max South Training Grounds.
A committee member moved the bill; a colleague seconded. The committee approved the supplemental appropriation by voice vote with all members saying “aye.” The committee did not record a roll-call tally during the meeting, and no procurement schedule or detailed equipment list was discussed on the record.
The committee then advanced to the next item on the agenda.
