Allegany County accepts $5,000 gun-case grant; approves job classification change

Allegany County commissioners on Thursday approved the consent agenda, which included a $5,000 grant to the sheriff's office and a personnel reclassification.
Jason Bennett, the county administrator, presented two consent items. The first was acceptance of a $5,000 grant from the Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention to support the sheriff's special operations response team and overtime for gun-related cases. Bennett said the funds would be used for special operations call-outs and overtime tied to gun cases.
The second consent item was Resolution 25-11, an amendment to Allegany County rules and regulations to change the job description and grade allocation table. The amendment removes the vacant position of "economic development specialist" and replaces it with a "business communications and services liaison" at grade 109, Bennett said.
Commissioners moved and approved the consent agenda without additional discussion. The meeting record shows the motion passed on an affirmative voice vote.
