Clinton County under DEP code orange air-quality advisory amid Canadian wildfires

A commissioner told the board Aug. 4 that the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a code orange air-quality advisory for Clinton County because of Canadian wildfires and advised that children, the elderly and people with respiratory conditions limit outdoor activity.
A commissioner told the Clinton County Board of Commissioners at the Aug. 4 work session that the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection had issued a code orange air-quality advisory for the county because of wildfires in Canada.
The commissioner said, “Clinton County is currently under a code orange air quality, through DEP, and that is because of some wildfires in the Canada area.” He advised that children, the elderly and people with respiratory conditions such as asthma “should probably stay out of the elements, specifically for today,” and said the county would provide an update after the day.
The advisory was given as an announcement at the end of the work session; the commissioners did not take formal action on the advisory during the meeting.
